A room without books is like a body without a soul. ~ Cicero

The Fortune Bookie started with the process of cooking dinner for the Open Book Workshop residents. Each resident, or pairing, was asked to prepare dinner throughout the two weeks. For my dinner I planned and prepared dessert, complete with green tea coconut ice cream and handmade fortune cookies. Several years prior, I had made a similar dessert using a Martha Stewart fortune cookie recipe. In the initial planning stages I decided to use the fortune cookie format to generate a book. Each fortune was a famous quote about books from a variety of noted authors, film makers, poets and philosophers.
